Beaten by technology

OK, so technology has totally gotten the best of me at the moment. I wanted to submit my post below (AIDS part 1) to Emergiblog for Change of Shift. I've actually tried for the last three editions.... But, somehow, when I click on the "contact me" button on her website, I can't get through. I think its because I use gmail and I don't have my Windows email outlook set up properly. I used to be able to scroll over the link, get her addy and send it her way....but, somehow I can't do that anymore.

I also wanted to comment on AD's post about his blogroll, and request being added there. But, my computer won't let me do it. I don't know if he has comment moderation on and hence has about 10 posts to sort through, or if its my computer.

So, I am attempting to communicate with the greater world and maybe get some readers. But, attempts at mastering technology are defeating me at the moment. Any hints, suggestions, tips are much appreciated!

Can't help you with AD's blog, since my computer won't read his site since he changed hosts. BUT, my work-around on the email issue (since I, too, use Outlook usually, but gmail for blogging contacts) might work for you.

When I click the email link on someone's blog, I get a yellow Internet Security Warning dialog box. Click allow to open email. Then, I grab the person's email address and paste it into a gmail message (cut&paste). At that point, close the unwanted windows email and proceed with gmail. A little awkward, but gmail saves the address when you send a message, so it only has to happen once. HTH

Thanks for help Warmsocks! I usually do the same cut/paste routine to avoid using outlook, but for some reason Kim's addy wasn't showing up. Now its there, so I don't know what happened. Beaten by technology again!

Well, damn. What about my site can't you read, Warmsocks?

And Medic Nurse, you're already blogrolled. As for commenting, have you tried registering with the Disqus comments system?

My new site hosts at the JEMS Blog Network sold it as the be-all, end- all of comments systems, and so far I'm underwhelmed.

Thanks AD! I will try the Disqus system and see if it changes anything. But first, I'm off to lose a massive snowball fight and build a few snowmen.

I initially had the same problem with emergiblog, but persistence has paid off-and I got a response recently that my submission was received-keep at it.

Good luck in the snowball fight, hope you won't need EMS....

If anybody needs EMS, we have a full crew here. 2 EMT/firefighters, 1 RN/Paramedic, a couple junior squad members. I'll bet we even have enough equipment for a jump kit here. I think we'll be fine.
